The Kansas City Krunch has a general manager.

The 2-year-old National Women's Football League (NWFL) named Cheryl Fields as general manager of the Kansas City team, Fields said Wednesday.

Fields, who lives in Overland Park, has been active in organizing other expansion teams in the league, she said.

The league announced in mid-July that it planned an expansion team in Kansas City, part of a six-team expansion. The team was christened the Krunch on Aug. 20, Fields said. Its colors are red and white.

The site for the Krunch's games has not been determined.

Fields said that one more players' tryout is scheduled for Oct. 12 at Wyandotte County Park, 125th Street and State Avenue. A tryout fee of $35 is required. Participants must be at least 18 and have their own insurance.

The league's 29 teams each average 35 to 44 players, she said. Fields also is looking for four assistant coaches and a head coach.

The league is looking for a buyer for the Kansas City team. NWFL teams cost between $40,000 and $65,000, Fields said.

The NWFL season runs from April through July. Tickets range from $10 to $20.

The league plays full-contact football under National Football League rules.
